Unlike Bluetooth smartphone housings like the SeaLife SportDiver and Kraken KRH08, DIVEVOLK’s smartphone housing doesn’t use a vacuum system. It is constructed with a sturdy polycarbonate and aluminum body, and it’s designed to be used at depths of up to 60 meters (200 feet). I have tested with it all over the world, as deep as 30m, also in rough and cold waters – Norway, Mexico, Indonesia, South Africa, the US, Egypt, Sri Lanka, the Bahamas, and soon to be more! My DIVEVOLK housing always works flawlessly, never had leaking or touchscreen problems.

Touchscreen Controls

The SeaTouch 4 Max Plus is the first and only full touchscreen smartphone housing. The back of the housing features a clear plastic film filled with a glycerin-like gel. By pressing firmly on the gel, you can use your phone’s touchscreen almost as you would above water. You can access all the functions of your phone while it is sealed inside the case, including placing phone calls, sending messages, watching videos, swiping on Tinder.. and using all your apps underwater. This makes the DIVEVOLK phone case perfect for taking photos and videos underwater. You can do all this with your phone’s native camera app, without needing to install additional apps.

Here’s a quick tip: if you’re an iPhone user, turn on “AssistiveTouch” before diving into the water. This small adjustment will make it much easier to operate the touchscreen underwater.

Another important thing to note: the touchscreen works with 3-5mm neoprene gloves but not with dry gloves. If you are diving in icy waters with dry gloves, you’ll need a DIVEVOLK touchscreen finger cot to operate the touchscreen.

Waterproof to 60 meters/ 200 feet

The engineers at DIVEVOLK are redefining the way we dive! You’d be amazed to know that the housing is waterproof up to 60m/200ft. They define this depth as the safe range, where the touchscreen can still be used flawlessly. However, I’ve heard of divers taking this DIVEVOLK phone case down to 80 meters and resurfacing with a perfect phone—no leaks or damage to either the case or the phone.

The reason I trust this housing so much is the tiny slot where the adapter carrying the phone is inserted. This design greatly reduces the risk of flooding. In other housings, the seal’s circumference is much larger, which means more potential points of failure.

Compatible To All Smartphones

The DIVEVOLK waterproof phone case works with many different smartphone brands and models. It comes with a small tray that fits inside the case. When you order, you just choose your phone model, and you’ll get the right adapter. The best part is, if you get a new phone, you don’t need a new case. You can just order a new tray and keep using the same housing with your new phone camera!

Easy steps to set up

Luckily, the DIVEVOLK housing is very easy to set up. Make sure to remove the screen protector from your phone before using the DIVEVOLK diving case. If you are diving from a boat in tropical areas, set up your phone in the housing before the boat leaves to avoid fogging.

1. Remove the screen protector from your phone
2. If you have an iPhone, turn on “AssistiveTouch”
3. Clean your phone’s camera lens
4. Attach your phone to the adapter
5. Put the adapter and your phone into the DIVEVOLK housing
6. Close the housing with the top screws

Additional Accessories

DIVEVOLK offers a wide range of additional accessories, including red filters, macro lenses, diving lights and dome lenses. These can really help you level up your underwater content!

Red Filter vs Purple Filter

For blue water, use the red filter, and for green water, use the purple filter. These filters easily attach to the lens adapter, which can be effortlessly moved in front of or away from the camera lens. Additionally, the filters are double threaded, allowing them to be used with any of the wet lenses (wide-angle, macro, and super macro).

Since I usually dive in blue water, the red filter is one of my most commonly used accessories. I highly recommend getting one if you dive deeper than 10 m/33 ft. It helps to correct the green tone in your videos. To attach the red filter to the housing, you’ll need a clamp, which you can purchase here as part of a combo.

Wide-angle Conversion Lens

This Wide-angle Conversion Lens remedies the distortion that occurs underwater when using the 0.5x lens on your phone’s camera. It also creates an ultra-wide-angle effect in your underwater videos, correcting the distortion and recovering the field of vision lost underwater. I often use it for taking selfie videos underwater since I have short arms. It is a basic lens I would recommend for both freedivers and scuba divers.

Other Accessories

If you also do scuba diving, I strongly recommend getting a diving light and a Dual Handle Tray with the L Bracket. Since scuba diving allows for longer bottom times and usually goes deeper than 10 m/33 ft, the light will bring all the magic colors back to your videos, making a huge difference in your content.

If you enjoy snorkeling, you can use the Dome to take split shots! I took mine to one of the cenotes in Mexico and absolutely loved the split shots I captured with my iPhone 14 Pro.

Do you have to remove the screen protector on your phone?

Yes, you need to remove the screen protector for the touchscreen to work properly underwater. If you’re worried about scratches on your phone without a screen protector, there is a Protective Case for iPhones with a built-in screen protector that helps prevent scratches and cracks.

Does the touchscreen work in cold water with gloves?

I dived in 9-degree waters with 5mm nanopore gloves, and my touchscreen worked perfectly underwater. However, if you are diving with dry gloves in ice water, you will need a DIVEVOLK touchscreen finger cot for the touchscreen to work.

Depending on the light and the ocean’s condition, the underwater footage sometimes can look flat and green straight out of the iPhone’s camera — I show exactly how I fix this on my iPhone in under 5 minutes here:
